Typical Last Quarter Boom.

It never ceases to amaze me, the difference between the pace of recruiting in July-August and the last quarter of the year. Anyone who tells you November/December in particular are slows months for job opportunities, isn't looking for a job, or hiring for their team. The last quarter - every month of it - has always, in my own experience, been the busiest time of year.

I really should start my holiday shopping over the summer, but no - I insist on engaging fully with this frenetic pace. During this time however, I tend to stretch the limits of my organizational abilities - so if you are out there grumbling at my lack of contact with you - feel free to pepper me with insistent calls for follow up. I respond well to pressure. {laughing}

On a Need to Know Basis

I had to learn about baseball fast. Always a fan of the game, and definitely (somewhat a prerequisite living in Boston as I do) a Red Sox fan. Taking me to a game however, even third row between third and home - was  a relative waste of a ticket.  My interest began less in the game itself than the stats, and especially how they measure up against the {shiver} Yankee's - who, sadly lost last Saturday and are now out of the playoffs. (insert sarcastic smirk here) I had to learn about baseball fast - because my favorite client is a Yankee's fan.

My son, who is unfortunately into the 'rap music' phase - would say I had to "represent". 

I am as feminine as it gets, unapologetically. I like pink (in moderation), I love pedicures (in excess), and high heels - as long as I can kick them off now and again. Even still, I remember speaking with this client, and talking about the Sox being down three games in the loss column (this was before the five game sweep that truly and deeply hurt), and the rush I felt being able to talk the talk. And when I get stuck and need a good snap against the Yankee's - I turn to the guys in my office who should list 'baseball' as a second language and learn the lingo.

These days I am a true fan - (nevermind how difficult that is after this past season) I still get stuck on clever lingo, but I follow the game, I agonize over the losses and love it when we win.  I learned the language of baseball because it was good for business, I learn to love the game because the Red Sox need all the love they can get.
